JUST for the record (or give up the denial Austrians): Of the roughly 200,000 Jews living in Austria before the country was annexed by the Nazis in 1938, some 65,000 perished in the Holocaust, mostly in Nazi concentration camps. Most of the rest were forced to leave or fled to escape certain death. At the end of the war, only about 1,000 Jews had survived. NY Times
Remembrance is necessary for honoring the living and the dead and to declare in spite of all, "nie wieder." MG+
