Tommy Tyson once prayed for me during a worship service. He told me later, "Jesus is watching your back." MG+
IS ANYONE THIRSTY?
I always feared the day when I would be forced to cope with the abrupt separation that comes with the death of someone I deeply love.  Last year while overseas on a 6-month mission trip to London and Budapest, I asked my dear friend, Mark (who had an apparent anticipation of Heaven), to pray for me regarding this “separation anxiety.”  Indeed he prayed for me.  I also prayed for him, as he desired to know God's love in greater measure.  Ironically, within a few days of this exchange, while Mark was out on an afternoon jog through the breathtaking English countryside, he mysteriously collapsed and died.  I suppose he just jogged right on into the arms of Jesus, and I imagine his desire to know God's love in greater measure was fulfilled. My great fear was also realized.  Shaken up, confused and afraid, I called home.  I'll never forget my Granddad's immediate response: “Heaven is real, Baby, Heaven is real.”  I've been contemplating those words over the past few months as I now try to picture my Grandparents' life in Glory.

Granddad grew up in the farmlands of eastern North Carolina and ended up in the fields of evangelism.  To sum it up, he was a Sower.  He constantly sowed seeds of hope, life, faith and healing.  Paul tells us in Galatians that “whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.”  I believe the seeds we sow (for good or for bad) are not only reaped in our own lifetime, but continue to produce fruit for generations to come.  Precious nuggets of golden truth my Granddad imparted to me are permanently branded on my heart and mind.

The legacy of Tommy Tyson lives on in our hearts, in his teachings and through the ministry of Aqueduct Conference Center. His vision for Aqueduct developed over many years of traveling as an evangelist.  He saw a need for a follow-up ministry based on small-group, Christian-growth conferences.  This vision became a reality in 1978, when Aqueduct first opened its doors. The word is derived from the Latin words aqua (“water”), and ducere (“to lead”).  An aqueduct is the open channel through which water proceeds from its source and flows by the natural laws of gravity to the place where it is to be used.  Aqueducts are used to carry water through the valley or the low places.

Much to my delight, this year I have come on board at Aqueduct to help nurture the legacy left on earth by Tommy Tyson and to play a part in perpetuating the vision for Aqueduct – a vision that continues to unfold...

“And he showed me a river of the water of life,” wrote John in the book of Revelation, “clear as crystal, coming from the throne of God and of the Lamb, in the middle of the street.  And on either side of the river was the tree of life, bearing twelve kinds of fruit, yielding its fruit every month; and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.”
