In this time of real insecurity as a nation
the gods of mars (war),
patrios (jingoism),
apollos (technology),
and thanatos (death) are raising their ugly heads.
We need to hear-- now in our spiritual captivity--the uncomfortable words of prophetic truth and love, confronting our deepest presuppositions in the Light of reason and Biblical faith.
When our true gods are revealed and confronted, we resist with all our anxious being, yet we are helped nevertheless. This is the founding prophetic truth of our historic colleges and universities. I'm sorry for the students at Rockford College and others who chose not to claim this inheritance.

Apart from the triune God our nation is in big trouble. With God I believe we shall get through by the skin of our teeth... Why do they attack and mock the prophetic witness? Let it be heard.
