Money has only one advantage: to make friends through love that shares and gives away. For love, which makes life fully alive, must generate love. It is life’s only wealth. The man who has overcome his selfishness gains his life. Jesus says that to love God is the greatest love in a person’s life and exists wherever we love our fellowmen as much as we love ourselves. Those who do not have this love, however much piety they may show, lack the most important thing: the sense for justice, mercy, and faithfulness.
