There remains a stark racial divide in perceptions of educational opportunities in America today. Only 31% of blacks agree that black children have equal educational opportunities to whites, compared with 63% of whites who believe this.
But blacks are less negative when they are asked about the quality of education they themselves received. Forty-eight percent of blacks say they are very satisfied and another 30% say they are somewhat satisfied -- not dramatically different from the educational satisfaction levels expressed by whites. And 77% of blacks say that educational opportunities for black children have improved compared to 50 years ago.
