THE DAY AFTER
There is evidently a deep dissatisfaction with elected officials and business as usual in government. I think most people do not vote because the living options available among political parties and candidates are so constrictive. People are, as they say, alienated. They are preoccupied with surviving.
Yes, we need to creatively reform our unjust economy and politics. We cannot stay where we are as a constitutional democracy-- we will either go backwards into chaos or little by little participate and renew our polis. This is a critical time. The vocation as citizen (along with church, work, and family) needs new fierce tenderness. Without salt, the food will rot. Where is the salt in our common life?
Check out the New Jersey Regional Coalition which is one statewide grain of salt.
