A Prayer of Confession

Dear Lord, the sin of humanity is contagious. It is in us all. It darkens us against thy light. It fevers us before thy calm. It knots in us and aches in us as we hear thy truth. Surely we cannot heal ourselves. O thou whose forgiveness brims over all the world and whose mercies are the medicines that make all things well, forgive us this day, and let thy mercies cleanse us soul, bone, and blood; through Jesus Christ. Amen
